Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
A new game from Collins Epic Wargames, Frontline General: San Pietro Infine will be a tactical WWII game with a lavish production.
When I say lavish, I mean $112, and that’s the pre-order price at 30% off. Youch. Check out the components yourself to see if it’s worth it.
In a Living Dice interview with the designer/publisher last year, the game was supposed to be a “a printed, single-scenario standalone game, which acts to introduce players just to the Frontline General Combat System” retailing for $20. I wonder what happened.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Yehuda,
Thanks for the post! Regarding price- yes, it’s admittedly more expensive
than I’d like, but a $20 game did not do the battle justice. It was
originally going to include just a few components, but the more I researched the battle of San Pietro, the more I realized that to ‘do the battle once and right’ without expansions, I’d have to increase component quantities to adequately represent the history and the units involved. It’s also gone from a single historical scenario to at least a dozen and production quality is absolutely top notch.
We’re actually getting a decent response on it so far- most of the preorders are coming from players who purchased our first game which is very encouraging.
It’s a slow process getting exposure as a small publisher, and I definitely
appreciate the news post.
Take care,
Byron Collins
