Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
Fate of Heroes is an expandable card game put out by Pingo and is based off the Xemytica game system created by them.
The game seems to be your standard CCG/ECG format. Two players battle it out to see who wins. The starter deck is available for $29.95(!) and contains enough cards for two players to play. There is no actual physical product. You download the PDF after purchasing and print your own deck.
From what little they have on their website, the art seems pretty sub-par. There’s also not a lot of information on the Xemytica system itself.
It’s got my interest, which is why I’m posting about it, but at $30 for a do-it-yourself card game, I don’t see myself rushing out to purchase it anytime soon.

Just want to add a few comments to the above article, to clearify a few errors.
1. There IS a physical product!
What you get for $29,95 is 54 cards, full color print on heavy high quality card-stock, a clear plastic protective case AND free shipping, worldwide.
2. The game might seem to be a standard fantasy battle game – but one of the unique aspects is that the cards are layed out SIMULTANOUSLY instead of in turns. It is NOT a turn-based system.
3. Artwork has gone through a lot of changes since first version, and I hope the design should be much better now in the final product.
It is true that we were first thinking about just launching a downloadable PDF-game. However, after beta-testing, we thought that a physical product is much more interesting.
Since the Xemytica Game System is an original system, we hope that Fate of Heroes will be a fun and action-packed card game that everyone can enjoy.
We will launch other games during 2010 based on the Xemytica system, for those who don’t like fantasy. :)
