Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
Move over No Limit Texas Dreidel; other new Hanukkah-themed games are muscling in on your territory.
Staccabees by Daniel Singer and Bruce Kothmann, published by sggc Big Voorah Productions, is essentially a vamped-up version of dreidel. However, the dreidel tells you how many of your cubes to add or remove from a central stack of cubes. If you topple the stack, you get the cubes that fall. The object is to get rid of all of your cubes.
Maccabees by Dan Siskin, published by his company FlasterVenture, is also similar to the traditional game, but it has a board and cards. After spinning and taking/losing to the pot, you advance your marker and take or lose action cards. The object is to collect eight jars of oil to light your menorah.
