Philip Fierlinger is one of the founders of Xero, an online accounting system.

One of his design goals for the software was to take the pain out of accounting by emphasizing its game-like aspects. To this end, he followed the principles set out by Nicole Lazzaro of Xeo Design, a consultant for video game player experience research and design.

At a recent Wellington meetup he gave a neat presentation on integrating game design into software products and other aspects of our boring lives.
