The London Chess Classic is underway, and it features the strongest conflagration of grandmasters seen in the UK for 25 years.

Top players include Magnus Carlsen (number 1 player in the world according to Live ELO Ratings), Vladimir Kramnik (former world champion, 2000-2007), Hikaru Nakamura (US Champion), Nigel Short, Michael Adams, Ni Hua, Luke McShane, David Howell, and others.

It is intended to be the first year of a new tournament series, and to promote Chess to UK schools and communities.
