Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
OneBookshelf, the largest retailer of downloadable tabletop games, began last week collecting and matching donations for Doctors Without Borders to aide earthquake victims in Haiti. So far, the company has collected around $3,500 from gamers in $5 and $10 contributions. But I have a feeling that number is about to multiply. By rallying the support of publishers, OneBookshelf has been able to put together one absolutely incredible incentive package. From now until the end of January, those donating just $20 at DriveThruRPG or RPGNow will receive over $1,400 in free gaming products!
Not that you should donate just for the stuff, but here’s a highlight of what you’ll get:
Shall I repeat? Those are just the highlights! So go on; give up twenty bucks for people in need. And thank you to all those publishers for the inspiration.

This is awesome – and may have crashed their server. I was able to check out the selection and it rocks. However, once I hit the Add to Cart button it just hung. I will definitely keep trying though!
RPG Now is already “Down for Maintenance”. Looks like a lot of folks other than me thought this was a good deal.
With over 500 donations in the first 12 hours, the servers and credit card processors couldn’t handle the burden. DriveThruRPG and RPGNow are taking donations again, but instead of delivering the PDFs immediately, are providing a coupon for downloading the products later.
