Arkady Dvorkovich, the RCF chairman who supports current FIDE president Kirsan Ilyumzhinov’s bid to stand as Russia’s nominee for the next FIDE president (rather than famed chess player Anatoly Karpov, whom the RCF board actually voted to stand as nominee), is also chief economic advisor of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. Kirsan and Arkady have called the RCF’s board vote improper and irrelevant.

On Friday, Arkady sent a private security team to toss out the current security team at the RCF headquarters, as well as the current RCF president, Aleksandr Bakh, and then locked several of the offices. More analysis at source.
