Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
Games are getting expensive! To be fair, a lot of games are rising in quality too. We’re seeing a lot more plastic pieces, and more of them too. We’re seeing better boards, nicer cards, and higher production values overall.
Is it worth it, though? I’d have to say sometimes it is. Other times, it seems some games are OVER produced. Sometimes I just want a good looking game that plays well WITHOUT 500 metal pieces and an oversized box.
Your thoughts?

For every Galaxy Trucker that retails at $70, there’s a Forbidden Island that retails for $15. Great games will always be offered at a variety of price points that works for gamers of all spending levels.
I think its card games that are getting worse. £20 for a couple of decks of cards is getting crazy. Both summoner wars sets would set me back £40 when Agricola is £45. I know which is better value.
