Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
What do you get for the board game that already has everything, including at least seven expansions and custom dice? Why pre-painted plastic miniatures, of course.
Coming up from Fantasy Flight Games…

I thought FFG decided to drop this idea because of the overwhelmingly bad response to the price. I don’t remember what the prices were, but these are $4 MSRP. Probably $2.50 retail. Maybe we could get a set of all 16 for around $30.
$3.99 direct from FFG, but there are closer to 50 different figures.
FFG says that because of the cost they will not be offering them through regular distribution channels. Retailers can contact them for special arrangements.
ekted: I think the reason FFG dropped the figs were complicated. There was considerable outcry for a variety of reason, with people complaining when the decision was made to drop the product.
Looks like FFG is going to release single figs (which alot of people demanded), the packaging is smaller (which alot of people whined about), and the price point is exactly the same per fig (check the threads for the product announcement).
FFG has basically said, to make a profit (I know, how dare they!), even if they sell them as a set, the price won’t lower. FFG thinks it is giving players a cool game upgrade, they are not out to make a huge profit (they need to cover time, cost, and materials though).
If FFG was going into the minitures biz (like with Mutant Chronicles), they would be working with distributors, etc. to get them out. The fact that they are doing direct sales means that their profit margin must be pretty small.
These photos make the figs look pretty nice. Check out the detail on the guy’s pocket-kerchief.
