The Professional Game Store Association just founded and is looking to sign up its charter members. It’s aim is to strengthen ties between game stores and manufacturers, publishers, and distributors.
If you own a retail hobby game store, you can contact them at Gen Con, or fax in your membership to the number on the site. Or you can buy a membership at an online discounter for 40% off.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
This seems interesting, but pretty vague. The mission statement piece is about the only information on the site. I would be super interested to know who was behind setting this up.
It’s Pat from Gnome Games.
Yup, twitter crowd sourced that information for me. Interesting times.
I guess technically this is growing out of the Game Pro Symposium, but Pat seems to be taking the lead.
I think that the group’s listed mission statement is at odds with Pat’s online persona. I’ve never met him in person so I don’t know what he’s like IRL.
The PGSA is an association of retailers, by retailers focused on improving the business of brick and mortar hobby game retailers. Better stores = a more vibrant industry = more gaming opportunities and selection for the customer.
As I own two great game stores it was only natural that we become involved at the onset and make this as successful as possible.
This has grown out of the need for retailers to have a retailer focused trade organization that is responsive to their needs in a timely manner.
