Like it has every year since at least 2007 (the earliest reference I could find), Amazon will not allow you to sell toys and games through its site starting from mid-November until mid-January, unless you meet several requirements:
These are Amazon’s Holiday Selling Guidelines in Toys & Games. These guidelines “maintain buyer confidence in Amazon this holiday season” and “ensure that our sellers in Toys & Games provide a high-quality customer experience”. I’m not an Amazon seller, but I’m not sure I understand the second point, which seems to me to have little to do with buyer confidence and high-quality and more to do with spanking the little guys.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Keeps the fraudsters away. Sounds like they just want a track record. Of course, they could educate buyer’s to look for those conditions they are listing, or even flag sellers who don’t meet them. But their customer service sucks assballs, so I can see why they would take steps to prevent problems from getting to that point.
I get very frustrated by this policy. I do a little bit of selling on Amazon, mostly books but a few games as well. My game listings have been removed the last few years because I never have enough qualifying sales (I’m usually at around 20, just shy of the 25). My record on the other counts is fine (no returns, no cancellations, no late shipments).
