University Games, a company that already has a number of other acquisitions under its belt (Front Porch Classics, Colorforms), has acquired American Plastic Equipment.
Big deal, you may ask. It’s a plastics manufacturer.
It is. It also holds the licenses to around 75 games, some with modern licenses (Hello Kitty Pop-O-Matic, Sesame Street Letter Game), but mostly a package of vintage games from Marx Toys, Ideal Toy Corp., Transogram, Gabriel Toys, Mego Corp, Aurora Products and Kohner Bros. of 1940 Toys. These guys produced some of the most popular games in the mid-20th century, such as Kaboom, Green Ghost, and Skittle games.
UG is planning to reissue some of them.
