Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
I’m not really interested if you’re playing with your siblings, parents, or Uncle Bob. In this case I’d like to know if you game primarily more with adults or children.
Being a parent of 3, I game more with my children than anything else. That wasn’t always to case. Back when I worked in an office (I telecommute now) I gamed more with co-workers than anything else because we played over lunch.
Who do I prefer playing with? Tough call. I love playing with my kids. There’s something about the pure joy they get out of playing games. On the other hand, it’s sometimes nice to play with someone on the same level as you.
Thoughts?

My 5 and 9 yo boys are my primary gaming group.
Every couple of months I am able to get togther with my adult gaming friends.
Maybe once a year do I play with kids, and only because I brought games to a family event. I game 1-2 times a month, and it’s always with adults in the 25-60 age group.
My oldest from the age of 6 until 10 was my primary gaming partner. Ballet changed all of that. My youngest has no interest in gaming.
Now it’s mainly adults.
I’m older than y’all. I play games mostly with adults including my 3 grown 20-something children. I can’t wait till my 1-year-old granddaughter is old enough to learn her first Euro.
I game weekly with adults in the 25 to 65 category, both board games and D&D 4th ed. My 17 year old son is as good of a challenge as any adult I have played (and has been for a few years). My 12 year old daughter isn’t very interested in games, although she has no problem kicking my butt in Wii MarioKart.
I used to game primarily with adults, first in a large and ever-changing game night setting, then in a smaller setting with pickier players so harder games (nothing lighter than Acquire and Railroad Tycoon). Now I game mainly with my 9-year-old stepson. I suspect it does have an effect — I bought the Wrath of Ashardalon game because we both love D&D, but after playing only with him, I got bored with its grind quickly, but wonder if it would be different when played with adults.
