Patch Products has announced that it will begin placing QR codes on game packaging as a way to deliver product information, demonstration videos, and current promotions to customers while they shop.

QR codes are those two-dimensional patterns that can be read by most smartphones and are used to deliver web links or other information. With the code on the box, a customer strolling the aisle will be able to pull out their phone, scan the code, and be directed to information or a video specifically about that game. It’s no substitute, I think, for a knowledgeable salesperson. However, when such help isn’t available, I could see this being quite helpful.
