Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
At Gen Con, Wizards of the Coast announced the return of D&D miniatures. This time, the minis will come in sets, like a box of orcs. Also, in addition to supporting the RPG, the miniatures will be designed to work with a new skirmish game based on card play instead of dice rolling.
Paizo Publishing also recently announced that it is extending its deal with WizKids to produce a whole line of Pathfinder Battles prepainted plastic miniatures. Paizo, however, is adopting the randomized blind-booster-pack approach. The first set, Heroes & Monsters, includes 40 different sculpts and will be available in December. The next set, Rise of the Runelords, is scheduled for release in June 2012.
