Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
Back in February, Days of Wonder launched a $10,000 contest for a new Ticket to Ride map. Today the company announced that it has actually selected two entries and will be releasing them as part of an upcoming two volume Ticket to Ride Map Collection.
Ticket to Ride – Asia will debut at Essen Spiel and will include a double-sided board with “Team Asia” and “Legendary Asia” maps. Ticket to Ride – India will include maps of India and Switzerland (previously used in the online game and not part of India, but we’ll just ignore that for now). Both will include new destination tickets but will require either the original Ticket to Ride or Ticket to Ride Europe to play.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Actually, Ticket to Ride: Switzerland was originally a boxed expansion of its own. I imagine Days of Wonder’s site says “made famous by Ticket to Ride Online” because (A) they want to promote Ticket to Ride Online and (B) they don’t care to mention the now out-of-print Ticket to Ride: Switzerland.
I’m glad they’re going this direction and hope they’ll re-release Nordic this way. I love what Power Grid does but don’t feel like buying a new set of trains every time I want a new map.
Ah, well, it looks like my Ticket to Ride: Mars design will be relegated to the dark recesses of my hard drive.
