The 5th bi-annual Digital Games Research Association (DiGRA) conference has apparently slid straight into non-digital territory.

The list of keynote speakers at the conference, said conference being entitled Think Design Play, includes the likes of Dr. Reiner Knizia, Eric Zimmerman, and Bernie DeKoven, all talents well on the side of (though not entirely within) old school gaming. Program topics include:

  • Chores or Fun: Understanding Social Play in Board Games for Digital Tabletop Game Design by Yan Xu
  • Exploring anonymity in cooperative board games by Jonas Linderoth
  • Modern Board Games and Why Game Studies Should Care, a panel discussion led by Dr. Knizia
