The next World Chess Olympiad is scheduled for August and September in Istanbul, Turkey but the Turkish Chess Federation has a problem with the list of arbiters provided for the event by FIDE. They’ve rejected any officials from England, France, Georgia, Germany, Switzerland, Ukraine, or the United States. The claim is that these countries supported a recent lawsuit against FIDE over the election of vice presidents. The suit was unsuccessful and the president of the Turkish federation believes that the supporters should reimburse FIDE for its defense costs.
