National Chess Week

Many of my friends who are federal employees have, during the U.S. government shutdown, been taking the opportunity to play more board games. Now they know that they have the government’s endorsement.

Friday, the Senate passed a resolution declaring October 7-13 National Chess Week:

To enhance awareness and encourage students and adults to play chess, a game known to enhance critical-thinking and problem-solving skills for students of all ages, learning abilities, and strengths.
