While visiting boardgames.com still brings up a retail website, the operator explained to Purple Pawn:

There is no longer any stock, inventory, warehouse, etc. We are selling the domain, website and content… We have decided to put the name up for sale. I don’t see it being something we should focus on right now and I feel putting it into the hands of someone who can care for it will be much more beneficial for all.

The minimum offer required for boardgames.com is $500,000.
