Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
Coming up January 24-26 in New York City, the New School Game Club will be running a roleplaying convention with an interesting twist.
Players will become explorers, searching the ruined city of Avalyse for powerful, ancient relics. As players move from district-to-district they can also move between game tables; encountering other groups and participating in a shared campaign experience. With over a dozen GMs, the world will change and grow between sessions, reflecting the decisions you make.
Participation in this experiment is free and open to the public, though given the persistent nature of the game, organizers are asking players to commit in advance to attend all four sessions.
In terms of game mechanics, Avalyse will run on the Pathfinder RPG. For those wishing to prepare in advance, setting background and character creation guidelines are available on the event website.

This is an intriguing idea. I would like to see this applied to an RPG. Possibly one GM running multiple parties that cross paths in the same world, or multiple GMs running a story designed to get their players to interact and changalter each other’s story lines. Seems hard to do but sounds like an incredible experience.
