magic_logoAccording to the Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Fox has acquired from Hasbro the rights to produce a Magic: The Gathering movie. Precise terms were not revealed but indications are that Fox views Magic as a big franchise, on the scale of Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings.

Simon Kinberg, who also works on the X-Men and Fantastic Four properties for Fox, will be the producer for Magic: The Gathering.

A Magic: The Gathering movie should not be a surprise given Hasbro’s brand strategy, yet it’s exciting nonetheless.
