Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
Maha Yodha is a new card game based on Hindu Mythology. Currently up on Kickstarter, I was able to get a preview copy of the game to give a whirl.
The game is for two players, and the two factions I received were the Asura and the Aditya factions. The cards are beautiful, and the artwork is stunning. I haven’t really seen anything like it before, and this theme could really put this game on the map. Of course a pretty face isn’t everything, so how does it play?
One word. Awesome.
I was a bit skeptical at first, as the rulebook is extremely short. The rules are super simple, and the game takes less than 5 minutes to learn. Don’t believe me? Take a look at the rulebook. The game, itself, is in the depth of the cards and combos. The three types of cards: Warriors, Scrolls, and Weapons. There are a multitude of ways these cards can interact to deliver blows, extend your actions, and more.
My kids and I ate this one up. I can’t wait to see the finished product, and hope there’s many more cards to come.
Maha Yodha needs $16,000 in 44 days to be funded. I’m really keeping my fingers crossed that this one makes it. It’s a great game with an amazing theme and excellent design.
A preview copy of Maha Yodha was provided for free by Leprechaun Games USA Inc.
