arc1250_manamorphoseWizards of the Coast is making some big changes with Magic: The Gathering releases. Now instead of 1 block of 3 sets, plus a core set year, we’ll see 2 blocks each year. These 2 blocks will be one large release to setup the new world, and one smaller release to build upon that world. In 2016 we’ll see Core Sets dissappear.

That’s right. No more Core Sets.

Also in 2016 we’ll see  Standard move up to 3 blocks instead of 2.

These changes are a year away due to release schedule, but they’re really going to shake things up quite a bit.

I really recommend reading the entire article posted over at wizards.com to get the full details.

I, for one, am really excited about this. I’m a bit sad to see Core Sets go away, but I’m hoping for bigger and better things.
