At quick glance, Card Master seems to be a bit like Triple Triad on steroids. This is a good thing, mind you. The game is currently up on Prefundia, a site that I didn’t even knew existed until now. The rules and pretty much anything you need to know are up there, and the game will be hitting Kickstarter soon. Those who sign up for an early invite will get special rewards if the game ends up being funded.
Card Master has my interest, but I’ll need to see a bit more before it gets my commitment.

There’s actually already a released game that meets this criteria — the game ‘Sellswords’ by Level 99 Games. Basically Triple Triad, but with a 5×5 grid instead, and each of the 50 characters being drafted, with their own numbers and their own special abilities to use.
