Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
Final War: Onslaught was setup just outside the tabletop area and I almost missed it. Don’t ask me how. For some reason or another I just hadn’t walked down that isle until I was almost ready to leave the floor for the day.
Final War is a CCG for 2-4 players, but it plays a bit differently that I’m sure most CCG players are used to. The game has each player building their armies up while combating events resolved through a Fate Deck. Eventually, towards the end of the game, Final War is called and the players then battle head to head to see who emerges as the victor. The full rules are available on the game’s website.
One of the cool things about the game is how the boxed starter set provides you with plenty of power and options to enjoy the game. Booster packs aren’t really necessary unless you’re really looking to expand your play. Even then, cards from the base set may still find their way into your decks because of how useful they can be.
The game hasn’t officially launched in the states yet, but should be soon. You can still purchase it online.
It’s certainly a game to keep an eye on.
