Syrinscape to have an official D&D soundtrack.

If you are unfamiliar with it, Syrinscape is a sound design app that adds evocative ambient background sound and a movie-like soundtrack to your tabletop gaming experience. From ethereal forests and stony shorelines to dank vermin-filled dungeons and the spooky depths of the underdark.

And now they have landed a partnership with D&D. This along with the recently announced Call Of Cthulhu RPG soundtrack and their existing collaboration with Pathfinder RPG, not to mention their vast library of original soundtrack content, Syrinscape has taken the lead on making a fully immersive gaming experience.

Assault of the GiantsDesigned by Andrew Parks, the new Dungeons and Dragons board game, Assault of the Giants, is a giant in its own right. The game will contain 14 Giants miniatures, measuring from approximately 4” to over 5 ½” in height, and has up to six players controlling giants to attack settlements and obtain resources.

I’m sure we’ll see more details arise in the next few months.

Assault of the Giants will carry a giant price tag, too, coming in at a $99.99 MSRP.

kqVh8whKMeltdown Comics in LA will be hosting Critical Role’s Matt Mercer,  Battlebost host Alison Halsip, and more (to be named soon) for a live D&D event from 1pm-5pm, June 1st.

I actually have the full list of everyone who’s playing, but the information is currently under embargo.

It’s an event I’d love to be at, but I won’t be in LA any time soon!

FEAT20150901_Key-ArtRemember back in August when Wizards of the Coast released The Art of Magic: The Gathering—Zendikar? Apparently it felt very similar to a D&D campaign setting book. Now, Wizards has released Plane Shift: Zendikar to supplement Art of Magic and allow you to turn everything into a D&D 5th campaign.

The free PDF is 38 pages long, and really gives you everything you need to play. The Art of Magic: The Gathering-Zendikar will help you flesh out the world, but you can also get most of the details you need on MagicTheGathering.com and the Zendikar plane profile.

It seems like it’s been a long time coming. I’m surprised there haven’t been any other official Magic/D&D crossovers until now.

Players CompanionWizards is kicking off the new season of D&D Encounters Elemental Evil, and with that comes a free Player’s Companion to be used with the Player’s Handbook. The Companion is full of new player options, new races, and spells for adventurers to get ready for the season. The book is 25 pages long, and is laid out as professionally as a paid book. I’ve had a chance to flip through it real quick, and there’s some exciting material in there.

The free Elemental Evil Player’s Companion can be downloaded at DungeonsanddDragons.com and DriveThruRPG.

The new season of D&D Encounters takes place during a portion of the Princes of the Apocalypse adventure. Each Wednesday at Wizards Play Network locations around the country players can participate in what this season has to offer..

Castle Ravenloft

Announced at a week-long D&D Experience in Indiana, Castle Ravenloft is a new board game set in the D&D universe.  Wizards of the Coast is taking a queue from more modern board games to create an hour-long experience for 6 players.

D&D’s Mike Mearls states “It’s going to be really tense and really claustrophobic.”

It’ll be interesting to see what the mechanics will be like once more information is released.  Will one player need to be the game master, like in Descent: Journeys in the Dark?  Will it be cooperative, like Pandemic?

Hopefully Wizards gets this right.  Ravenloft is an awesome setting, but that won’t be enough if the game isn’t up to snuff.
