yu-gi-oh-logoChaos looms in the Yu-Gi-Oh! CCG community as Konami and Upper Deck trade accusations and neither company seems prepared to back down. As reported on ICv2, Konami amended its counterfeiting complaint against Vintage Sports Cards to include Upper Deck Entertainment, suggesting that Upper Deck was involved. For its part, Upper Deck Entertainment states that it refuses to “lower itself to the unfair and backstabbing tactics that Konami has used over the past several years toward their ultimate goal of removing Upper Deck from the Yu-Gi-Oh! business.” In Europe, sister company Upper Deck International has been successful at forcing Konami to maintain the distribution arrangement. In the United States, while Upper Deck Entertainment no longer has new cards to distribute, it continues to run tournaments. Fans, though, are left unsure as to which cards are legal for tournament use.
