Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
The Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Paizo’s attempt to keep the d20 system alive as an alternative to D&D 4E, will be released in final form August 13th at Gen Con. Indicators of the splash I expect it to make are the supporting projects debuting at the same time. Adamant Entertainment is publishing The Tome of Secrets, a print book of optional rules for new classes, character occupations and drawbacks, chases, morale, stunts, and other stuff. And because Paizo is using Wizards’ OGL and has issued a Community Use Policy, a fan-made system reference document is already being collected on the web.

I’m definitely going to pick up the PDF when it comes available for $10.00. That makes it worth it to me because I’ll probably never find a group to play/DM it with, but I have really enjoyed reading through the Alpha and Beta rules and want to see the finished project. If by some chance I ever do find a group, I’ll probably run them through the Goodman Games adventure I bought for $5.00 as a PDF- Castle Whiterock, as long as the backwards compatible promise still is in effect.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens.
