Publisher & designer have a fight over game, both publish competing variations, board game community splits into warring factions…), FRED Distribution (the aforementioned publisher) has sued Martin Wallace (the designer) over breach of contract for (1) creating a variant game that isn’t theirs and (2) not completing a game they commissioned from him. BoardgameNews.com has a great write-up, including a response from Mr. Wallace himself indicating that parts of the contract at the center of the dispute have been added after the fact.
