While Pokémon Sun & Moon will be out in November for the Nintendo 3DS, Pokémon TCG players will have to wait until early 2017 to get their hands on the new set that features the all-new Pokémon.
It may be well worth the wait, as it was announced today that the new set will introduce Pokémon-GX cards. Pokémon-GX will have new attack and devastating attacks that can alter the game. The trick is that a player can’t use more than one GX attack in a game. Not one GX attack per Pokémon. One per game.
Each Pokémon-GX has a devastating GX attack that can instantly reverse a player’s disadvantage or create an early-game advantage. A player can’t use more than one GX attack in a game, so deciding which GX attack to use and when poses a strategic challenge. Other than that GX Pokémon are similar to EX Pokémon. They have high HP, powerful attacks, and earn the player that defeats them two prize cards.
The Legendary Pokémon Solgaleo and Lunala, who appear on the covers of the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon games, will be featured in the Sun & Moon expansion as Pokémon-GX.
Solgaleo
The Sol Burst-GX attack allows a player to attach up to 5 Energy cards from their deck to their Pokémon in any way they like, making it a powerful attack that’s useful for super Energy acceleration.
Lunala
The Lunar Fall-GX attack lets a player immediately Knock Out any of their opponent’s Basic Pokémon

Pokémon’s 20th anniversary celebrations continue, now with the release of the Mythical Pokémon Collection: Manaphy box.
The box includes a special Manaphy promo card and a pin of the Mythical Pokémon. It’s a limited time collection, and also contains two special Pokémon TCG: Generations booster packs.
If you saw my digital unboxing of the Darkrai box, you know what to expect from the Manaphy on.
I’m a big fan of the Mythical Pokémon Collections. It’s always nice to get promo cards and a pin for a good price. The extra Generations pack are a huge plus.
These are on store shelves now, and are priced at $15.
Captured from my Twitch channel, here’s an unboxing of the 2016 Spring Pokemon tins. The tins: Mewtwo EX, Shiny Gyrados EX, and Machamp EX, are available in stores now. Each one contains an EX card and 4 booster packs. I actually snagged some pretty good cards here!
EDIT: It seems the audio is off-sync with the YouTube video. I’m working on getting that fixed. You can still view the broadcast version here.

Nearly 13,000 Pokémon TCG cards went into a record-breaking mosaic created by British artist Quentin Devine. The thing is enormous, measuring 10 meters tall and 7 meters wide. You can tell a lot of Electric-type energy went into it, a lot more than the 3 needed of Pikachu’s 2nd attack.
The mosaic was created as part of the continuing 20th anniversary celebration for Pokémon.
Pokemon is turning 20 in February of this year. To celebrate, The Pokemon Company will be reprinting the original 60 cards from the Pokemon TCG. The pack will contain the original 60 cards, a commemorative coin, and a player’s manual.
Along with the release of the cards, the original Pokemon Gameboy games will be released on the Nintendo eShop for the 3DS/2DS.
