Attending PAX East and want to know who is exhibiting at what tables? We’ve been given the list of exhibitors in the tabletop hall, which currently do not show up in the Guidebook app, the only version of the program and show’s floorplan available.

The tabletop booths will be along the right (north) edge of the space, near the skybridge. From the main Queue Room entrance on up to the Lenovo Legion PC Room, the following companies will have a presence in the tabletop hall:

  • Gamewright, Q-Workshop, Asmodee NA
  • Compleat Strategist (local game store), Steve Jackson Games
  • Battleground Games & Hobbies (local game store), Level Up Dice, Fun to 11, Tectonic Craft Studios
  • CMON, Wyrmwood Gaming
  • Burning Wheel, Japanime/Global Games Distribution, Greenbriar Games
  • Modern Myths NY (“local” game store), Armor Class 10 Shirts
  • Pandemonium Games (local game store), Crit Success, Dragoon/Lay Waste Games
  • Atlas Games, United States Professional Mahjong League
  • Drinking Quest, Aviary Games, SFR
  • AdMagic

  • Foam Brain Games (“local” game store)

Although the PAX 2017 program book that appears in the Guidebook app doesn’t break down the tabletop hall, PAX’s Tabletop Manager has said that this year a detailed map of the tabletop area will appear in the program.

paxeast2I love Wormwood Gaming, and I especially love my Purpleheart Dice Tower and tray from the company. Excited to see what was new this time around, I headed to their booth. Along with some amazing looking wood, they had new deck boxes, and a leather gaming mat (my favorite item at the booth!)

The new deck boxes are both beautiful and functional. Each one also has a secret compartment to store a bluetooth tracker, so you’ll always know where you favorite deck is. Below is a selection of boxes in different types of wood.

Wyrmwood Deck Boxes

The leather mats I saw were absolutely amazing. They’re larger than your standard gaming mat, and have the Wyrmwood logo embossed on them. They’re made from premium stone-oiled Water Buffalo leather, and can be engraved for an extra fee. My picture below really doesn’t do it any justice.

Second Look - Boardgame reviews in depth. Check out that cat.Seen at almost every tabletop booth at PAX East were Wyrmwood Gaming wooden accessories. Be it dice trays, towers, vaults, or deck boxes, you couldn’t escape Wyrmwood’s presence. Their actual booth was a marvel with all sorts of beautiful wooden items, including a custom Crokinole board.

After a few email exchanges I was lucky enough to be the recipient of a dice tower, dice tray, and dice vault to review here. Each of the three pieces was crafted from Purpleheart wood, which I had never really heard about until now. The pictures online looked beautiful, but they’re nothing compared to how the wood looks and feels in person.

Everything arrived wrapped in brown paper bearing the Wyrmwood logo. Once upwrapped I found all the pieces neatly tucked into the dice tray and secured with a leather strap. Here’s the really cool part. The dice tower is flat-packed and snaps together using magnets. This allows for quick and easy disassembly to store right back in the tray. All the pieces fit in perfectly with room for the dice tray.

Wyrmwood dice tower, tray, and vault setIt’s pretty amazing how solid the dice tower is once it’s put together. It fits neatly up against the tray so that dice spill from the tower into the leather-line tray with a satisfying sound and tumble. I have to admit I’ve been using the tower for any game we’ve played with dice in it since the set arrived…even if the game only has 1 or 2 dice.

The dice vault they sent is just as durable and well-crafted. The lid snaps on with magnets, and there’s a stiff foam inside to keep your dice safe. I’ve got my original set of polyhedrals from when I was 8 in there currently.

I couldn’t be more happy with the entire set. They’re amazing pieces of craftsmanship, and I feel lucky to own them. These are items built to the highest standard, and meant to stand the test of time. The best part? Wyrmwood has a Craftsman’s Promise:

There is only one acceptable outcome for our Craftsmen: a product that they can take personal pride in and an -absolutely- satisfied client. If you are unsatisfied with your product for -any- reason at all, we will fully refund or replace the item free of charge. We always guarantee our products, and we will always pay for shipping.

I was told that this guarantee is unconditional, not time-sensitive, and applies to everything they make.

While we feel the price is fair given the quality of our items, we also like to point out that these pieces are an investment, and you’re buying not just the item, but the assurance that it will live up to expectations, as well as our pledge to address it if it doesn’t. We’re very serious about that, both because we believe strongly in making sure our customers are absolutely satisfied and because we only want top notch products out there with our name on them.

I can’t recommend Wyrmwood’s products highly enough, and with a guarantee like that you can feel safe knowing your investment is well made.

A dice tower, tray, and vault were provided free for review by Wyrmwood Gaming.

header_imageEverywhere I went in the tabletop floor booths had beautiful, wooden accessories to accent the games being shown. Everyone said the same thing, “Wyrmwood Gaming provided these excellent products.” Be it dice trays, towers, or wooden dice. Wyrmwood had the right idea by making sure at least one of their products were in as many tabletop booths as possible. I was blown away by the quality of what I saw, but it was nothing compared to what I saw at their own booth.

Wyrmwood CrokinoleThe first thing that hit me was this awesome Crokinole board. Not a normal product they sell, but a custom piece. If you’ve got something in mind you want, you can always email Wyrmwood to get a quote for them to make it for you. Their actual product line consists of dice trays, vaults, towers, and deck holders. They even have some non-wooden materials like card sleeves and polyhedral dice.

Their products are bit pricey, but are built to last. There’s no denying the quality of the workmanship, the beauty of the products, and the absolute wow factor each pieces possess.

Wyrmwood Gaming hand-makes dice and card storage boxes and dice trays, each available in a varieity of natural woods, including maple, mahogany, rosewood, cherry, walnut, and bubinga. Of course these beautiful accessories do not come cheap. An extra-large deck box (which will hold 120 sleeved cards) runs $200 in Gabon Ebony.
