In a monthly update for the Call of Cthulhu Living Card Game (LCG – essentially, a non-collectible card game with regular releases of new cards), Nate French, lead developer for the line, dropped a bit of a bomb that doesn’t seem to be getting the proper amount of attention: Fantasy Flight Games is launching a third LCG based on an undisclosed property. To quote Nate:
Enter the Darkness
This summer, Fantasy Flight Games will be announcing the debut of our first entirely new Living Card Game. All I can say now is that it’s an amazing game with a powerful license, and that lead designer Eric Lang and I have had a blast working on it.
I’ve not been able to dig up any confirmation of what the license may be, but the dominant theory seems to be that the game will use the Games Workshop IP (either Warhamer 40K or Warhammer Fantasy). This makes sense for a number of reasons: (1) the property has previously supported a popular CCG (the long running WarCry game), (2) FFG has been going out of their way to take advantage of their agreement with Games Workshop in every way possible and (3) it would be awesome. Okay…maybe that third one isn’t a real valid reason, but you get the idea. Any one got a better theory on what the next LCG might be?
